We're Drivers Too — That's Why We Built This

Theoresundbridge.com wasn't built in a boardroom. It started on the road, just like your next trip.

We're a team of car travel lovers. Most of us have been driving through Europe since we got our licences. We grew up on family road trips — sleeping in the back seat on the way to France, watching our parents figure out toll booths in Austria and Switzerland. Back then, it seemed simple enough.

Then we started driving ourselves. And that's when we realised: Europe's toll systems are a mess.

Every country has different rules. Different vignettes. Different vehicle categories. Different languages. Different currencies. And if you don't know what you're doing, you can waste hours — or get fined.

We decided to fix that. Not just for ourselves, but for every driver crossing European borders.

The Green Sticker That Started It All

It began with a trip to Wiesbaden, Germany. Our CEO, Mattijs Wijnmalen, was visiting his brother. When he arrived, he discovered his car needed an 'Umweltplakette' — a green environmental sticker — to enter the city. No one had told him. There were no clear signs. And it was a Saturday. Four closed shops and three and a half hours later, he finally got the sticker. 'There has to be a better way,' he thought. So he built one.

The Road Trip That Changed Everything

A few years later, Mattijs took a longer road trip through Europe. Austria, Switzerland, Slovenia, France — each country with its own vignette system, its own rules, its own payment hassles. He came back with an idea: what if we could help drivers with all of it? Not just German stickers, but every toll product across Europe. The company as it exists today was born.

Whatever It Takes

Back then, not everything was digital. Some vignettes still had to be physical stickers — and those needed to be shipped by post. Our COO Freek took this personally. He'd wake up at 5 AM, drive across the German border to buy physical stickers in bulk, then race back to the Netherlands to get them shipped out the same day. That hustle set the tone for how we still operate today: whatever it takes.

Speaking Your Language

We expanded to multilingual websites. Because if you're Dutch, you shouldn't have to struggle through a Slovenian checkout page. We realised that true service means meeting the customer where they are, in the language they understand.

Theoresundbridge.com Is Born

The Øresund Bridge deserved its own dedicated platform. Drivers crossing between Denmark and Sweden face unique challenges — two currencies, two countries, confusing toll machines. So we built a site specifically for them. You're on it right now.

Our Mission

"To take the confusion out of crossing European borders, so you can focus on the journey, not the paperwork."

Our vision is to become the go-to platform for European toll products. Whether you're driving to Austria, crossing into Switzerland, or taking the Øresund Bridge to Sweden — we want to be the place you come to first.

Simplicity

If it takes more than 3 minutes, we've failed. We’ve optimised every step of the process to save you time and stress.

Customer-First

We test every product ourselves. We drive the roads, cross the bridges, and buy the vignettes. Then we write detailed guides and shoot videos for you.

Our Culture — Informal, Ambitious, Always Improving

We're not big on corporate hierarchy. Titles matter less than getting things done and enjoying the process.

Informal atmosphere

First names, open doors, no unnecessary meetings. We keep it human.

Own responsibility

We hire people we trust, then trust them to do their jobs effectively.

Room to grow

Many of our team members started in different roles and grew into new ones.

Hybrid setup

Some work from the office, some from home, some from a camper in Sweden. Whatever works.

What we have in common

We're active, we're curious, and we love to travel. You'll find hikers, skiers, cyclists, and campers across the team. Some of us plan road trips for fun. Others just want to get somewhere without the hassle.

"Either way, we understand why our customers come to us — because we've been there ourselves."
