Mattijs Wijnmalen is the CEO and Co-Founder of Theoresundbridge.com, where he leads product development and ensures every piece of content meets the highest standards of accuracy.
With over a decade of experience in European toll systems, Mattijs has built more than 20 toll and vignette websites serving drivers across the continent. He co-founded Vignette & Péage Application Service B.V. alongside Freek Jurg, growing the company to 50+ employees and helping hundreds of thousands of drivers navigate European borders.
But Mattijs isn't just behind a desk. He's a passionate traveller who has visited every European country by car or camper over the past 10 years. When it comes to the Øresund Bridge, he's crossed it himself — first in his camper in April 2025, and multiple times again in early 2026 to document the toll station, test the iTicket system, and capture the photos and videos you'll find in our guides.

Mattijs doesn't write about toll systems from behind a desk. He uses them. Over the past decade, he has driven through every European country — by car, by camper, and sometimes both.
Crossed with his camper during a road trip through Denmark, Sweden, and Finland. This trip inspired Theoresundbridge.com.

"You can read about toll systems online, but there's no substitute for actually driving through them."

It began in Wiesbaden, Germany. Mattijs was visiting his brother when he discovered his car needed an Umweltplakette. No one warned him. It was Saturday.
Four closed shops and 3.5 hours later, he finally got the sticker.
"There has to be a better way."
So he built one — his first toll website for German environmental badges.
A drive through Austria, Switzerland, Slovenia, and France. Each country with different toll systems, different rules, different confusion.
He came back with a bigger idea: help drivers with ALL of it.
Founded Vignette & Péage Application Service B.V. with co-founder Freek Jurg.
A camper trip through Denmark, Sweden, and Finland. Crossed the Øresund Bridge for the first time.
Saw an opportunity for a dedicated platform.

"You can read about toll systems online, but there's no substitute for actually driving through them."
I've been in the wrong lane. I've struggled with payment machines. I've waited behind confused tourists. That's exactly why I can help others avoid those situations.

"When someone uses our guide to navigate a toll station in a foreign country, they're trusting us to get it right."
That trust is the most valuable thing we have. It takes years to build and seconds to lose, which is why we verify everything.
— Mattijs Wijnmalen
"We don't just sell tickets. We use them."
Every toll system we offer, someone on our team has personally tested. That's been our approach since 2014, and it's not changing.
